Our red-footed tortoises were part of an ambassador program at Kansas City Zoo.  They were downsizing their ambassador collection and needed a new home for the tortoise group.

Red-footed tortoises occupy the same geographic region as the species at the new tamarin complex and tortoises are generally compatible with a wide variety of species.  They are a fun and colorful addition to these habitats.

Diet

In the wild:  Eat a wide variety of both plant and animal material.  Depending on season and food availability their diet will change

At the Zoo: Mazuri Tortoise Diet, greens, fruits, and vegetables
