Adult Volunteer: Casual

Our Adult Volunteer Program accepts volunteers over 18 years of age who are interested in volunteering repeatedly with us throughout the year.  These dedicated, passionate members of our community will have the opportunity to assist with community gardens, grounds maintenance, unique conservation projects, special events, and/or community outreach events!  Do you have skills, abilities, or time that you'd like to donate? There's always something to do at the zoo!

Casual Volunteers:

We know people who are busy still want to give back!  We aim to make it easy by offering opportunities for those who are looking for one time or infrequent volunteer events. Our Core Volunteers are welcome (and encouraged!) to participate in these volunteers too! Our Casual Volunteers will wear a volunteer lanyard while they are volunteering.

Train & Carousel-Casual

Our guests love riding our train and carousels, but running them requires a little more work these days. Our rides need to be completely wiped down with disinfectant in between each use to help keep our guests and staff safe and healthy. You’ll be partnered with a staff member or an adult volunteer ride operator to help them wipe down the rides in between each use.

Conservation-Casual

Do you want hands-on experiences and like to get messy? Conservation volunteers make a difference in our community’s wildlife habitats which makes a global impact! Note: Many of our casual conservation projects are located off Zoo grounds. More information about these events can be found here. Conservation events can be completed by individuals as well as groups.

Garden Assistant-Casual

Do you have a green thumb? If you are interested tending green spaces at the Zoo, the Gardening Assistant job may be for you!  Separate from the Adopt-a-Garden program, the Zoo regularly requires garden upkeep and sprucing up throughout the season. Must be able to bend, kneel, or reach down to pull weeds, trim plants, or water gardens. Must be able to work outside in cool-hot weather, so bring your reusable water bottle to keep cool!

Special Events-Casual

Did you have a great time at one of our special events? You can help visitors create lasting memories and have fun at the Zoo, too! Special Event Volunteers help activities run smoothly on our busiest days and assist with community outreaches. This opportunity is perfect for you if you would like to volunteer on the weekends a couple times a month.
